In-Ground Fence Transmitter
You can think of the transmitter as the heart and the brains of your in-ground dog fence system. “Heart” of the fence because it is the component that generates and transmits the fence signal down the fence wire. Ultimately, it is the signal generated by the transmitter that is picked up, through the air, by your dog's collar.
It is also the “brains” of the fence because it has software that allows you to adjust the fence frequency, the boundary size, the correction level of each collar, and has special programs to stabilize the fence boundary, and adjust to account for issues with the fence wiring.
The transmitter is highlighted in the following picture:
Everything you need to do is controlled by two buttons on the transmitter, one marked “Scroll” and one “Set”. Despite featuring a wide range of adjustments, these two buttons are all that is needed, and the adjustments are detailed in a simple step-by-step process in the instruction manual. Just above the control buttons is the large, easy-to-read LED display.
Mounting and Connecting the Transmitter
The transmitter is wall-mounted and has slots on the back side. We include screws and wall plugs, so you have everything you need to mount the transmitter on the wall. The bottom of the transmitter has connections for power input and for the fence wire. In the following picture, you can see where the included A/C adapter plugs in.
To the right of the power input are the terminals for connecting the fence wire. On some of our competitors' systems, you'll connect these straight to the fence, but on our system, these will connect to the Lightning Protector. (More information about the Lightning Protector is included in another article. The link is at the bottom of the page.) This picture shows where the terminals are located.
